Kris Tharp
Born to a single mother and raised in Wood River, Kris is a lifelong resident of Madison County. Kris is a proud product of public schools and a graduate of East Alton-Wood River Community High School. He was the first in his immediate family to put himself through college, graduating from Lewis and Clark Community College in Godfrey, and Lindenwood University-Belleville where he attained a Bachelors and Graduate degree. Kris has been a police officer protecting our local communities for nearly 25 years, and now serves as a Captain with the Madison County Sheriff’s Office. Kris has been a member of the Illinois Police Benevolent and Protective Association Local 118 (PBPA) for 23 years. He is a graduate of the prestigious FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia, and serves as a Deputy Commander on the elite Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis. He is also President and Founder of the Madison County TRIAD. Kris has worked tirelessly to keep violent criminals off the streets while also advocating for crime victims, senior citizens, and vulnerable populations.

Kris resides with his wife Jaime (Correctional Officer) and his youngest son Kameron (College student) in Bethalto. Kris and Jaime’s eldest son, Tyler, a US Army veteran, is a police officer in Wood River.
